Beliș–Fântânele Lake: the most relaxing trip in the area

An excellent choice for a relaxed outing, with no difficult hiking. Beliș–Fântânele is a reservoir at about 990 m altitude, between the Gilău, Vlădeasa and Muntele Mare mountains — around 9.8 km² and about 13 km long, surrounded by conifer forests.
The story beneath the water. During low-water periods, the ruins of the church from the old village of Giurcuța de Jos emerge — the village was relocated when the lake was built (1970–1974) — one of the most photographed places in the Apuseni.
Driving route: Călățele Pădure → Beliș → the lake area.
What's worth doing: a walk along the shore, stops at the viewpoints and, depending on the season, activities on the lake. For a longer trip, continue towards Mărișel or the Dealu Botii area.
